This well is said to have occurred as the result of a grisly murder. The young girl in question, Dunawd, had her throat slit by her stepmother. As the blood flowed from her neck, a clear fountain sprang where the blood was spilled.

This can be found at Porthclais Creek. It was at this particular place that the infant St. David was baptised. It was found that on the third immersion of the child, the man holding the baby had his eyesight restored.

This well is named after St. David’s mother (her saint’s day is March 2nd) and can be found near the ruin of her chapel. When the well was restored during the early 1950’s, excavators found many pebbles and pins believed to have been offered in times past. It was said to be used by pregnant women to gain strength from its water.

In the year 999, St. David’s was attacked by pirates from Denmark. During the raid, Bishop Morgenau was murdered. That night, his spirit was seen by a fellow man of the cloth in Ireland. The ghost of Morgenau showed his grisly wounds and stated that because ate meat in life “I am become flesh”.
